Episode 108 with Drew Michael

Drew Michael is a very funny stand up comedian. He was on an episode of YMTE Live! I invited him to do a long form interview. He said yes. This is that interview.

The interview took place on the roof of my building. It gets windy in some places.

Drew is performing this Saturday at midnight at Second City. I'll be there too. Here's some of Drew's comedy.

Episode 107, Live at the Hungry Brain with Thomas Conner, Marty Derosa and Daniel Knox

The live show! It starts poorly and ends not poorly! My mom was there! So there's that!

Thomas Conner is the pop music critic at the Chicago Sun Times. He was the first guest of the evening. I asked him what Chicago acts he was following. I suggested BBU, Daniel Knox and White Mystery. Today Mr. Conner wrote a great piece about 10 Chicago artists worth following. Guess who's on the list? I am very powerful and influential.

Marty Derosa was in a short film I made entitled "Look at Things and Try New Drinks". That has nothing to do with his comedy. Choking does have something to do with his comedy.

Daniel Knox is my favorite songwriter. Now Thomas loves him too. I am very powerful and influential.

Read Thomas Conner's piece, "Hot Chicago: 10 local bands on the rise" here.

Watch the preview for a film Marty was kind enough to star in.

Watch a Daniel Knox video I made. It's sad. I think. I hope.

Episode 103, Live at the Hungry Brain with Nathan Rabin, James Fritz and Jon Langford

The live show! Fun!

Nathan Rabin writes for The Onion's AV Club and is the author of "The Big Rewind" and the upcoming "My Year of Flops". You read his stuff. You like his stuff. Listen to us talk about Lou Pearlman.

James Fritz is a stand-up. He's on Red Bar Radio most shows. He's very funny. Listen to him crack wise.

Jon Langford is in the Waco Brothers, The Mekons and also releases solo records. They're really good. His new one is entitled "Old Devils". Listen to him perform songs from that album.

Best one yet.

Episode 83, Live at the Hungry Brain with Jeffrey Brown, Cindy Cornelsen, The Way It Is and more

Live! Talk show (kinda)! Fun times!

Graphic novelist Jeffrey Brown makes me glad I'm not a Red Wings fan. A nice conversation about the difference between his 'real' voice and persona voice, what his friends and family thinks of his work, living on a private paradise and much more.

Stand-up Cindy Cornelsen is funny and dirty and my mom would like her comedy. That's not a joke.

The Way It Is played a really pretty set. Before the music was a very, very mean interview. I laughed so much I spit my drink back into the glass. Twice. Michael Sanchez (The Way It Is) is a good sport.

Episode 80, Live at the Hungry Brain with Stephanie Kuehnert, Junior Stopka, Team Band and more

The Live show! Fun times! Stuff to listen to! Ending sentences in prepositions!

Author Stephanie Kuehnert talks about her books "I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone" and "Ballads of Suburbia", how bartending is good for you and how she really doesn't have anything to do with "Jersey Shore".

Junior Stopka makes everyone laugh and feel odd inside. He also tells us about his favorite part of the Grand Prize Game and then does, well, just listen.

Team Band makes glorious noise. They were good sports.

Episode 74, Live at the Hungry Brain with Brian Costello, Cameron Esposito, Trevor McSpadden and more

A nice, long show. Listen to Brandon (me, from here on out I'll use me or I, the third person always seems wrong) yell at Kevin for no reason. I really need to stop abusing him. He did get to spray me in the face with water so at least it's not one-sided.

Brian Costello ("The Enchanters vs. Sprawlburg Springs") informs us of the elderly, Nazi lady in Lincoln Square and the sexism (my word, not his) of the Grand Prize Game computer. He's funnier than me.

Cameron Esposito ("Grab Them Aghast") performs stand-up and lets me talk to her about smelly performers. I say odd things and she permits it. She's nice and obviously funnier than me.

Trevor McSpadden from The Hoyle Brothers tells us about moving from Texas and plays a really great, intimate solo set. Not funnier than me.
